Cape Verde Holidays
Cape Verde holidays are fun to plan, whether you're the outdoorsy type or the cultural type. There's always something to enjoy in Cape Verde, whatever your personality may be. But whatever activities you are planning to have during your Cape Verde holidays, it's best to do a little research and planning first.
If you're planning for a trip to Cape Verde during February or March, don't forget to visit the Cape Verde annual Ash Wednesday carnival. It's one of the liveliest Cape Verde holidays. Although this carnival is celebrated on all inhabited islands, the carnival in Sao Vicente and Sao Nicolau are celebrated to the fullest.
During August, you will get to experience the festival of Baia Das Gatas on Sao Vicente. It is a 3 day music festival which includes a lot of dancing and food. During April, the island of Fogo plays host to the festival of Bandeira de Sao Filipe. There are several Cape Verde holidays throughout the year, especially since every island or municipality has its own patron saint, and the feast day of each patron saint is celebrated.
If you're planning on visiting the archipelago, your Cape Verde holidays wouldn't be complete without fun activities which include trekking, hiking, wind surfing, diving, mountain biking, spelunking, and bird watching. Although most tourists are after festivals during the Cape Verde holidays, having an adventure in the great outdoors can be equally rewarding.
